“Bella Ciao” is significant in Italian culture, particularly political culture, as its very roots stem from resistance and resilience. Beginning in the 19th century, it has transformed from a poor laborer’s folk song, to representing the anti- facist resistance in the 40s, to becoming a symbol of strength and courage despite injustice.
